Old School Gaming

One of my fondest gaming memories is playing Maniac Mansion: Day of the Tentacle by Lucas Arts. It certainly wasn't the first game I'd ever played, but it was the first I played on a PC. I was already entrenched in the idea of personal computers at the time, but once I discovered you could play games beyond solitaire and chess on them I was completely enchanted. That game was quickly followed by Monkey Island and Sam & Max. I then graduated to games like 7th Guest, Starcraft and Sims.
When I find myself between MMO games, or simply lacking the time needed to devote to MMO's, I often pick out a game similar to the above list. A wonderful source for games like this is Big Fish Games. They offer a new game every day that fit various gaming categories such as card, time management, and hidden object to name a few; all for a fairly reasonable price. When I'm feeling particularly nostalgic I visit their site and look for a promising adventure or strategy title. I will never be able to recapture that initial thrill I had when I learned about gaming on a PC, but they are still fun to go back to and enjoy.
